Week 13 Unit 6 Activity 1.2: Ethical use of ICT? [2012]

Description

You have accidentally received an email, which is clearly marked confidential, from a senior manager to your team manager concerning a care plan for a service user that you know. The service user’s social worker works in your team. The service user has been subject to persistent violent physical abuse. The proposed care plan requires the use of an expensive resource which you know will definitely safeguard the service user. The senior manager has used derogatory language in the email about the service user while denying them the proposed service on financial grounds. The email suggests that the service user will have to ‘take their chances’. The language used by the senior manager about the service user and the senior manager’s decision angers you enough to consider ‘whistleblowing’.

What should you do?

Proposal
